(2) The top ball end cap of the shock-damper link collapsed after 17 hrs. The beading of 3 out of the 4 caps has proved to be inadequate to prevent bad bijur leaks. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} has strengthened the section of the cap and altered the material to alum bronze. The new cap has been issued and we should like to get it on test as soon as possible.

(3) Failure of the bijur pipe. The coiled tube was found broken at 2 places when the springs were removed after 58 hours running. The broken parts are now with By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} who will improve the design.

(4) Rad. stay tube end piece E.58376. This failed after 17 hrs. We found that the jaws had been fitted to the wrong ends of the tube leaving an unnecessary change in section. Since the tube has been fitted up correctly no further trouble has developed.

(5) The rear shock damper bracket broke after 30 hrs. These brackets are used to support the 25HP. damper and not the J.III type. Al-though we intend to use J.III type dampers the D.O have changed the material of the broken bracket fan from Mild steel to Nickel steel in case we are obliged to revert to the 25HP. damper.
