1339. S/W {Sales / Derby Works} (Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} ). Cx {Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} 10/ES.5.1.37. Phantom III Tyre Noises. We now have our London Trials Pullman Phantom III back with rubber between axle and rear springs. Neither the driver nor I could see any improvement in this car which is definitely bad at 18/20 m.p.h. I suppose it is impossible for the car to be worse by reason of what has been done to it, but if it was possible, I should certainly say it was more noisy now than it was before. It is true that our own drivers can avoid running at 18 m.p.h., but I have no doubt you would like to investigate further this important question with a view to its elimination. Cx. {Major Len W.
