457 To CJ. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} PN.{Mr Northey} R2/M20.6.25. RE. CARLOS DE SALAMANCA - AND X.457 THE KING OF SPAIN. X.3465 The steering wobbles is something beyond my control. It is due to either unbalanced tyres or too low pressure. The steering problem is very difficult, and requires everything to be correct, especially a suitable air pressure for the speed and balance. The best thing we have schemed lately is the damped pendulum lever (patented) on the steering box. This is undergoing development but promises to be of some service, but we cannot expect it to cure such defects as mentioned above. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
