A New Tachometer

J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} of Scientific Instruments, April, 1934, p.124.

A new tachometer, manufactured by Salford Electrical Instruments Ltd., comprises an A.C. generator with a revolving permanent magnet and fixed coils. The distance between the coils and the magnet can be varied so as to adjust the voltage generated at a given speed. A full wave rectifier is incorporated in the generator and the indicating instrument is of the moving coil D.C. type giving a linear scale which can be calibrated in r.p.m., m.p.h., etc., as required. The generator is 4-5/8 in. long, weighs 20 oz. and has an output of 8 volts and 10 milliamps at 2000 r.p.m. The price ranges from £5.10.-
