PH.III DISTRIBUTOR (SEC.8120) LEC.4950. We are now building the Ph.III Distributor with the Micrometer Adjustment incorporated. We find in this scheme a feature which is troublesome from the assembly and particularly from the dismantling point of view which we wish to bring to your notice. We are speaking now of the serrated collar on the Distributor Shaft which prevents the Distributor Head from being dropped over. We have therefore, to assemble this shaft hanging loose in the Distributor Head and transfer this to the Governor Unit for the fitting of the Pin, Control Fork and Retaining Sleeve on the Governor Driving Shaft. In the case of repair work and dismantling we feel that this cannot be done except by someone very familiar with the construction of this unit. The Contact Breaker Ass. nor the Distributor Head can be raised without first removing the Pin through the Distributor Shaft and this necessitates the dismantling of Governor Unit from the Engine. We are wondering if the size of the collar could be reduced or some re-design effected which would overcome the above mentioned difficulties. Sft.{Mr Swift} | ||
