Mr. R.{Sir Henry Royce} Matthews, Rolls-Royce Representative, Cricklewood. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KW.9.7.36. I spoke to Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} this morning and was emphatic that we must get an oil consumption on this customer's car before it is pulled to pieces. As he says this car is never driven above 20 m.p.h. it at once suggests that, although oil may be passing the pistons, the majority is likely to be going down the valve guides. If this is so, the car may give quite a good consumption if driven hard. You can investigate this. This does not mean that you ought not to change the block and pistons, but that possibly you will have to change the head as well, so that we can investigate the valve grummet trouble at our leisure. Please let me have the information you get to-day by to-night's post. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
