CHRYSLER ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The electrical system on this car is of Delco-Remy manufacture, and operates on a six-volt supply, with a single insulated wire circuit; the positive terminal of the battery being connected to the chassis frame.

There appears to be no group system of distribution or switching; units being supplied from various tapping points in the circuits, and the switches placed where considered convenient.

The chief units comprising this system are :-

Generator, battery, starter motor, ignition coil and distributor, ammeter, lights, and horn, and two current limiters.

Generator.

This is a six-volt, third brush controlled machine, with a movable control brush. It is mounted near the timing case, and driven by the driving timing chain running on a sprocket attached to the armature shaft.

The auto charge switch is mounted on the generator.
There is no hand charging switch.

Battery.

This is a three-cell Willard battery, and appears to be of about 75-80 ampere-hours in capacity. It is situated under the floor boards just in front of the driver's seat.

Starter Motor.

As far as could be seen, this is a four brush machine fitted with a bendix drive. There is a reduction gear between the armature shaft, and the shaft carrying the bendix drive.

The main switch is very simple in construction and is mounted on the motor carcass. It is mechanically operated, from the driver's seat, by means of a pedal and a system of levers.
