X8650 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from EFC. c. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} BY/RD. EFC/T20.11.24. X.8650. EAC. SILENT STARTER. It is understood that R.{Sir Henry Royce} agrees this needs considerable alteration. Presumably he is now working on this and we may expect to hear from him before very much else need be done. The first set of apparatus has been removed from chassis 93-NK. It is considered, however, that having got so far with the second set of units these might be completed with our recommendations to date, as no doubt the information obtainable from these units will be useful. The recommendations should comprise (1) The various alterations to the windings. (a) Alteration of teazer winding on motor from 18 to 17 SWG. (b) Alteration of actuator box winding from 18 to 17 SWG. (c) Alteration of hold-off coil on relay unit from 28 SWG. to 27 SWG., the number of turns remaining the same. (d) Corresponding alteration of heavy current winding on relay unit, in which the section is reduced, keeping the number of turns the same. (2) The alteration to the pole cores, which we understand Mr. Davis is instructing. The motor and actuator box of the second unit, on which items we require the windings changed, are at present in our laboratory. Will RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} kindly arrange for this to be carried out in due course. EFC. [Handwritten note on the right side] Agreed by EFC. to be done on the first set of units. | ||
