Dear Sirs,

Your ref RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GRY{Shadwell Grylls}4/R.{Sir Henry Royce}
===============

Further to yours as above dated the 24th ulto.

We have to-day despatched per Passenger Train one complete set of Special Bumpers made to suggestions submitted by you, to reduce weight.

You will find that for a reduction of 3 lbs 2 ozes in weight, we have lost approximately 50% of the impact efficiency, and we doubt very much if such sacrifice would be acceptable to the average owner.

Please do not imagine we are biased in pointing out these facts, as we are always mindful of the necessity for weight reduction.

However, we await with interest, your further comments.

Yours faithfully,

J.R. ENGINEERING CO.
