X5800 Extract from GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}1/RP12.4.26. Report on chassis 10-GIII after 2948 miles. Electrical fittings. X5750 X5800 Elliott ammeter. This has given no trouble and has worked quite satisfactory. Ignition coil. Ignition coil with finer primary GP.1. We have found no defects with this. Distributor box. Distributor box C type cutout contacts with rigid backing and rigid fixed point support. The contacts were in good condition and have functioned O.K. 40/50 type Klaxon switch and wire. This has operated satisfactorily. Rear tail lamp. We cannot keep a bulb in the lamp, the filament will not stand the shocks of the roads; we have on an average changed a bulb every 500 miles. The large side glass of lamp has been broken by stones. The N.S. front lamp tube supporting wires underneath wing has broken in centre, clips holding same had broken. We are of the opinion that these are a poor fitting, and better clips should be provided. The head lamps are very poor for high speed work, they do not throw a beam of light far enough and there is a definite black spot. We are not at all satisfied with the Lucas headlights. | ||
