To E.J. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to W.O.R. c. to H.P. c. to C.W.B. X5840a R Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG6.3.26. VISIT TO LE CANADELHenry Royce's French residence. The 20 HP. chassis which is going to Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence is intended to stay in France and complete 10,000 miles, when R.{Sir Henry Royce} has approved. In our memo. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/LG3.3.26 we gave a list of the new pieces fitted to this car which it is proposed to standardise. It was our intention that this car should be tried by Sales before it was sent over to France. We have not however a duplicate chassis in hand for Sales to run 10,000 miles. We will however proceed to make such a chassis. It would be advisable for Sales to let us know what type of body will be fitted so that we can arrange the steering and springs accordingly. It will be noted that the 20 HP. we are sending to France has a body mounted on a subframe. It will be realised, of course, that making duplicates for every 10,000 miles car will mean /a/ larger volume of experimental work and therefore a larger number of men to deal with it.
