| To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/KW.21.11.36. Re Phantom III Modifications. With reference to the attached memo. C14/C.20.11.36, I should like to know how many miles we have run on the old type differential boxes. Were all the Trials cars modified ? I rather feel that there are a number of other modifications we have to do on Ph.III cars, some of which you have not yet found a solution for, such as the lubrication of the valve gear, petrol pump arrangement, etc. If we could extend the time to 10,000 miles before we change the differentials, we might be able to clear up the other points at the same time. I should also like to know how many cars are involved in this job. Perhaps when you have got this information you will come and talk it over with me.
