R.R. 20m. 28-1-24. J.T. 176-15 L.1011 EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expt. No. Handwritten top right: +401 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Classic *** To PH; from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c.c to H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} p. to BJ. BALANCE OF SILVER GHOST WHEELS. Handwritten next to title: +401 XH57 As a matter of interest, we are sending you copies of reports dealing with this subject which were written 14 years ago. You will see by them that in those days complaints of steering wobbles due to wheels being out of balance were prevalent and as a result it was then agreed to fit balance weights to the wheels. Some of the tyres supplied today have the same amount of out of balance, therefore the necessity for balancing the wheels still exists. We do not consider we need make excuses or be ashamed of asking customers to balance wheels. There is more reason for criticising ourselves for ever allowing any cars to go away with wheels out of balance when the effect of it was so well known to us. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Handwritten notes: Left margin: "This is Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} at his most self-critical, not afraid to say what he really thinks (totally a vital card) which it was perhaps one of his greatest gifts." Right margin: "Brave new words" Bottom: "He and R's sense of insipid fun like a breath of fresh air into the smoke laden atmosphere. Worthy - of Royce himself so virtually says "Let us not forget what experience has already taught us". Proceeding to summarise it, & doesn't waste a single word in doing it." | ||
