X481 Experimental Dept. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}12/KT. July 20th 1933. The S.U. Company, East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, B'ham. For the attention of Mr. Van de Becke. Dear Sir, With reference to carburation tests we are carrying out, with a view to standardising a needle for our 3.6 litre Bentley. We find that with the intake bend fitted, and a complete air silencer, a much weaker mixture setting can be used on the road. A comparison between the 'R.R' needle and a No.3. shews that the latter is most suitable at high speeds. At low speeds however, this needle is too weak, as would be expected. We send you herewith measurements for a needle we would like to try, if you would be kind enough to produce say three pairs for our further tests. Yours faithfully, Attached dimensions.
