Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} & E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} PN.{Mr Northey} CWB. X5060 R3/M16.10.28. VALVES. X.5060 X.5040 X.5770 Our experience with 12-G-4 says that the valves are not getting enough oil, especially the inlets, because they have been sticking, spoiling the slow running, and making the engine unreliable at slower speeds, but not affecting the high speeds. It is possible that this fault caused you to blame the pistons because this engine has always been slightly unsatisfactory. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
