To R A H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} from EFC. c. CJ. & FN. c. HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} EFC4/T20.8.24. X.2894 - "EIKA" TUNGSTEN POINTS FITTED TO OUR 20 HP. BATTERY IGNITION CONTACT BREAKER LEVERS AND SCREWS BY C. MELIN & Co. Our previous report on tungsten points was contained in a paragraph of our EFC3/T29.4.24, at which time one pair of these had run 9,000 miles on 7-GII and another pair 2,000 miles on 3-GII were reported upon. Both of these sets have now completed their 10,000 miles, the report on the first lot on 7-GII being contained in my assistant's report WA.{Mr Wallis}52 herewith, and on the second lot on 3-GII in WA.{Mr Wallis}7 herewith. It is thought that the working of these points can be considered generally satisfactory, though perhaps the standard platinum-iridium points have some advantage. The points in question are being sent to R.{Sir Henry Royce} with his copy of this report. They have been trimmed from time to time in accordance with Instruction Book instructions, but not dealt with in any other way. There is one further set of points running on 6-GII, which have not yet quite reached 5,000 miles of running. EFC. WA.{Mr Wallis}52 of 26th June. WA.{Mr Wallis}57. 20.8.24. attached. | ||
