HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} RECEIVED 1932 JUN 1 ORIGINAL. R5/M30.5.32. O.{Mr Oldham} to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} C. to F.{Mr Friese} HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} CRANKSHAFT BALANCE WEIGHTS. x634 Regarding the balance weights we are at present adopting I do not know whether these have been criticised from a practical point of view by RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}, and other experts of practical construction, but the system of splitting the balance weight so that it can accommodate itself to the dowels, and all the slack of the dowels to be removed when the securing bolt or stud is tightened, is worth investigation as to whether it would work with rather bad workmanship or slack dowels in the balance weights. If it does this the system is worthy of at least a provisional patent, as it ought to save cost and anxiety in production. I suggest that HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} and RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} arrange a demonstration. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
