(2) ORIGINAL to draw the hole sideways in the main frame. We suggest that the hole in the main frame be a slot instead of a round hole, the width of the slot being the same as the present dia. and the length about .250" more than the present diameter. (5) EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}2/Hl1129., the last para. on page 1. We agree that the wooden template supplied with the drop type centre subframe is, in the case of Barker's and Hooper's, somewhat redundant. However we must not lose sight of the fact that these are not our only coachbuilders, and there are yet many coachbuilders in England and abroad who have not seen a Phantom 2. chassis, and who may receive a subframe of this type on which they have to build a body. We do not consider the time is yet come when we can omit this feature with safety. We might consider the matter of omitting it more seriously if the number of these subframes used constituted a large percent-age of the whole. As a matter of fact they constitute a very small part. On the proposed new revised subframe - N. scheme 2993 - this difficulty has been overcome by making one subframe suitable for all cars, and an aluminium pot is permanently fitted in the subframe ensuring the necessary clearance for the universal joint, and forming part of the floor of the completed body.
