X 328 EY. from HDY.{William Hardy} HDY.{William Hardy}2/HP. 18.9.35. c.E. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} SECRET. Modified Gear Lever - Phantom 3. N.Sch.4631 herewith shows a modified lever which should be fitted to 2.S.1. for France. Slight alteration is made to the handle of the hand brake lever as shown. The object of the alteration is to give clearance for the driver's leg when in top gear. The lever knob has been moved outwards 1.250" and forwards .5" to clear the hand brake lever. The alterations to the gear lever are obtained by setting the existing lever but ultimately if this scheme is approved the more forward position of the lever would be obtained by an alteration to the angle.
