Lubrication of the 'SS' model's axle control and its potential application on the Phantom model.

| X.7420 BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 'SS{S. Smith}' AXLE CONTROL. It was desired to lubricate the ball end on the axle control of 'SS{S. Smith}' from the axle in order to simplify the damper. We have indicated on N.sch.2663 (herewith) how this might be done. If the spring loaded ball end should ever be introduced on Phantom, as we hope will be the case, it may be lubricated either in this way, or we might prefer to retain the existing lubrication along the damper lever.
