Y4196 BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ROY{Sir Henry Royce}11/MG3.12.24. ------ The Champion Sparking Plug Company, who you will recollect supply Springfield, are again approaching us with a view to the fitment of their Plugs on our Chassis, and I propose advising them the position is still unchanged and we regret at present we are not in a position to entertain their standardisation on our manufactures, or at the moment make the necessary tests, due to abnormal pressure in our Research and Experimental Departments. Kindly advise if you are in agreement. We recently ordered 48 Plugs against Requisition EWT/CEP2/EC20.11.24, and in delivering same the Champion Sparking Plug Co. state:- "We have re-designed the insulator allowing more "clearance in the inside of the shell, using an "entirely new and heavier electrode wire which will "not burn. You will find excellent acceleration; "no fouling; better climbing and, in fact, more "satisfaction in every way than any previous design "we have submitted to you. "Upon receipt of your request we will be pleased to "send our representative to explain our proposition as "it is our desire to give your requirements the best "possible attention."
