COMPLAINT.

MR. JOHNSON.
30th July 1913.

Re J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} L. Clark - Car No. 60503. X290

April 18th.
Customer informs W that since the car was returned from them in October last, it has only run 300 miles. Yet he has had three inlet and five exhaust springs broken at various times, causing much annoyance. He states that during the whole 6 years which he drove the car previously he had not had a single spring break, and he asks W to send a full supply, on which he can rely.

April 19th.
W acknowledge above letter and copy is sent to Mr. Wormald.

April 22nd.
Mr. Wormald reports that the defective springs should be returned in order that the matter may be taken up with the makers, and suggests sending a complete set of springs free of charge. Customer is written accordingly and the new springs are despatched.

April 25th.
W ask customer to return the faulty valve springs for examination.

April 30th.
Defective valve springs received.

May 7th.
Mr. Wormald is asked for his report on these.

May 14th.
He replies that they are taking the matter up with the makers.

May 26th.
Customer informs W that he is returning a broken inlet valve spring being one of the set sent recently. He states that the whole set was put in at once since when the car has run 300 miles. He asks how to avoid the trouble in future.

May 28th.
W acknowledge above letter and copy is sent to Mr. Wormald.
Defective spring received.

June 2nd.
Mr. Wormald reports that many of the springs have run regularly for thousands of miles without breaking, and he can only say that the springs must be of defective steel. Mr. Nadin is taking the matter up with the makers. Mr. Wormald suggests that two new springs are sent.
W communicate with customer in the terms of the above memo and inform him that they are forwarding two new springs, for which no charge will be made..
Instructions are issued for two new springs to be sent to customer, and charged to R.D.D.

June 3rd.
New springs despatched.
