The reversal rig test of a Marles Steering Column Ex.16005.

After being returned from the makers, the above was run on the reversal rig for a total of 7 hrs. at 574 reversals/min, using a 3" stroke. During the first 5 hrs. the stroke covered 1.5" ball pin movement on each side of the central position. The lever was then moved on the serrations so that for the next hour the stroke covered another 3" movement commencing at one end of the previous range, and for the final hour the stroke commenced at the other extremity of the initial range. The actual temperature of the oil was not measured, but was approximately 40 to 50°C. The oil used in the box was supplied by the Makers. (Sgd.) W. Bell. | ||
