Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C.R.M.C. C. a/M.C. N497. BY/EM2/K.{Mr Kilner} 18. 7. 29. ALUMINIUM BRONZE VALVE SEATINGS. With regard to your note and HL's report HLL/EA16.7.29. kindly note that we have been looking into the question of the material from which these seatings were made. We find there is some variation in the Brinell hardness of the bars we receive which have always been obtained from the same source viz:- Messrs. Kynoch. We have one bar of material at present in the Stores which is 180 Brinell this is on the hard side, and we are of the opinion that it would be advisable to have one or two sets of seatings made from this bar in order to ascertain whether the harder material is more satisfactory than material which is softer. Will you kindly arrange to draw this bar from Stores, and have the necessary set of seatings made for test purposes. BY/EL. Chs for Rly | ||
