E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Fowler Clark Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Mr. Fowler Clark, I thank you for your letter of the 16th inst. which has been forwarded from our London Office. Will you please address any further communications to Dagenham Dock? I can confirm Mr. Minchin's statement that there was apparently not much difference in the charging rate on his car with the Exide battery fitted, but I agree with you that it must exist when observed under comparable conditions. From the figures you gave us the charging rate on a P. & R. {Sir Henry Royce} would be about 10% higher than the Exide. I also agree that in a general way the P. & R. {Sir Henry Royce} charging P.D. is higher and it is desirable to effect a reduction, which I think can be done. I am glad to note that you have arranged to reduce the peak generator output in future chassis, which I think is a satisfactory compromise having regard to the varied requirements of battery service. With regard to the celluloid cells in your house, when I referred to the risk of fire I had in mind cases where this had occurred with celluloid cells leaking when on charge on D.C. mains. On further consideration, I am inclined to -1- Yours sincerely, F. {Mr Friese} Preston. | ||
