To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} c. Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} COPY FOR FILES. 600 3rd. Jan. 1938. 28.G.VI. Comments after week-end run :- Chassis. 1. The most noticeable feature was the over-run boom from 40-36 m.p.h. this feeks as though the engine and exhaust system were fouling at some point. Engine period from 42 to 50 m.p.h. forward. 2. Water temperature runs too low 68-70°C maximum. 3. Cold starting good, but not passable when not. 4. Clutch jaggers slightly, but excuse may be made for rear engine mount. 5. Brakes good, but light squeak when coming to rest 6. Suspension. Much worse than any Wraith tried previously for general road noise, including setts, the ride was very knobbly, and is not soft enough in the weak position. Coachwork. Doors. 1. These were almost impossible to open at first, but were quite free after the door dovetails were greased. 2. No draught was found coming from the sunshine roof but there is plenty from the near side front passenger door. This will be investigated and cured. 3. The rear luggage boot has too much wasted space, no advantage has been taken of the sides. It will be necessary to get Sandersons to alter this to carry golf clubs etc. Also every boot which has a luggage lid{A. J. Lidsey} for trunks should be fitted with a flap or inner lid{A. J. Lidsey} to hold the smaller cases inside, with the boot lid{A. J. Lidsey} open. This is lacking on 28.G.VI. | ||
