The British Tyre & Rubber Co.Ltd.,
Leyland,
Lancs.

For the attention of Mr. Evans.

DEAR Sirs,

We are enclosing drawings of the new rubber F.60515/6/7 to replace F.60352. We are producing 6 of the steel parts F.60515/6, which we will despatch to you as soon as possible.

Although you are quite correct in producing a new mould for F.60517 if F.60352 cannot be altered, your estimate of £10 seems very high as your neighbours across the road, the Leyland & Birmingham Rubber Co., quote £4. 0. 6d. for the mould for F.60352. Other firms have quoted £4. 12. 0d. and £7. 10. 0d. We considered the quotation of £7. 10. 0d. high, this being your branch at Burton. Will you please send me a drawing of the new mould which you are making so that I can get our experts to agree with your decisions.

We do not want this matter of cost to in any way hinder the progress of the rubbers, and will bear in mind that the cost of a mould produced in a limited quantity is liable to be higher.

We shall be very interested to hear any information with regard to your progress. We are still waiting for a drawing showing the alterations you are making to one of the moulds to F.60398. When this arrives we shall be in a position to give you the first official production order.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
