reasonable to state that lining and drum temperature will be a maximum at this point.

Unfortunately as we have already stated, while two dissimilar metals sliding on one another can also function as the hot junction of a thermo-couple, this is not possible where one of the two materials is a non-metallic product, and we have yet to hear of any other method by which the true temperature of lining and drum can be measured.
