Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Mr. West.
re: Electrical Rev. Indicator.

We thank you for your letter of the 18th inst, ref: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.12/MA. and note that the generator will be driven at 1.5 engine speed. We understand that normally the instrument will be required to register from 0 to 4,000 R.P.M. which means that the generator would be driven at 6,000 R.P.M.

The type of Generator we are supplying for test, is not suitable for such high speeds and in order to prevent delay in preparing a special instrument, we are sending one which has been calibrated 0 to 3,000 R.P.M. corresponding to generator speed of 4,500 R.P.M.

In the event of your tests proving satisfactory, we shall be glad to know whether you can arrange for the generator to be driven at the engine speed, if not it would be necessary for us to gear down to this speed.

Your letter does not indicate the type of generator you prefer; we are therefore, despatching one to outline print x.40687, a copy of which is already in your possession. Furthermore it is, of course, understood that it will, in all probability, be necessary, at a later date, to make a special generator to suit your particular drive and we shall be pleased to proceed with this on receipt of the necessary drive particulars.

Yours faithfully,
for S. SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES) LIMITED.
