Copy for Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X.4050 W46/NJ2920. Messrs. The Dunlop Rubber Co.Ltd., Para Mills, Aston Cross, Birmingham. 2nd September,1920. Dear Sirs, Magnum Straight-sided Wired-on Tyres. On the last occasion that we discussed these tyres with you, it was stated that you hoped to be in a position to market same next month (October). It will be within your knowledge that your branch, Dunlop Rim & Wheel Co.Ltd., Coventry, have orders from us for quite a number of wire wheels with Goodyear rims for straight-sided tyres and hope to be able to give us supplies about the middle of this month. The first 50 or 60 sets will be fitted on chassis which we are exporting from here to the U.S.A. or will be sent to our associates, Rolls-Royce of America Inc.,Springfield, Mass. to be fitted on to chassis made in their factory, but at the earliest possible date it is also our intention to fit these wheels on chassis which we shall deliver from these Works to British, Colonial and Continental purchasers, and we wish to be assured that a supply of Magnum straight-sided wired-on tyres, 33 x 5, will be available for such chassis, to avoid we and our customers having to depend upon American supplies of tyres. We shall be much obliged if you will inform us, in confidence, what the prospect is, so that we can make our arrangements. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. (Sgd) J.P.Whitehead. | ||
