Expl: Dept: Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. 28.1.20. Dear Maddocks, I am sending this letter by Enwstle so that you will be sure to get it. I was expecting, that when CJ. was in England that you would run up to Paris and get the new parts fitted there. We cannot quite understand how the shock absorber lever came right off. You know they are held on by a biting-in-bolt so that for them to come right off, a flat must have been made on the bolt or on the square shaft. It is also rather mysterious how the lever comes to foul the luggage carrier bracket because the shock absorber and the luggage carrier bracket are both fixed to the frame so that if the frame sways they both should go together. Also the shock absorber arm is so flexible sideways that one cannot imagine it being pushed off by rubbing against the luggage carrier bracket. I want you to let us have full particulars of what has happened and how you think it has occurred because the fact remains that they have come off and that we have got to prevent it occurring in the future. At present we are at a loss to know what to do. Enwstle is bringing with him the new parts for your shock absorbers. We have sent new levers and rotors, will you please let Entwistle bring others back. It is essential that you get the shock absorber working again on your car. Contd. | ||
