- 2 - HDY.{William Hardy}2/HP.3.2.34. ---------- Eight spring plungers are provided for the 2nd speed S.M. sleeve but it may be found that six are sufficient in which case the spacing should be altered. Three R.{Sir Henry Royce} type roller bearings are used as on the J.3. box. This type of bearing gives design advantages compared with a plain roller bearing such as the closer location of the bearing to the 2nd speed pinion and we imagine that the saving of machining cost in the box will be greater than the increased cost of the bearings. We shall be sending particulars of the remaining details such as speedometer drive and change gear bracket during next week. HDY.{William Hardy} | ||
