Hollingworth} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}17/R.20.7.39. 'CORNICHE' CHASSIS. We have been talking to Sr. on the 'phone to-day regarding the delivery date of the 'Corniche' chassis. He states that the 'Salon' is the first week in October. Van Voorens point out that they cannot possibly get a body mounted on the 'Corniche' chassis, painted and road tested in less than six weeks. Therefore, unless we can let them have the chassis in Paris in the middle of August they will not have a demonstrator ready for the 'Salon'. The car that is actually going to be on the Stand would, of course, have to be very little lighter than the demonstrator. Under the circumstances, we should like the Works to review the 'Corniche' programme, and say what they can do to satisfy Paris, even if it means sending out some parts after the car.
