Tests on this joint to N.Sch.3647 show that under a torque of 150 lbs/ft. the end load required to slide the joint is about 15 lbs. compared with 150 lbs. of the ordinary joint. After a few thousand miles on the road the rollers had worn slight ridges on the thrust faces of the sliding member. These ridges naturally prevent easy sliding of the joint and we shall try making this part in nitrided V.C.M. This joint will run 10,000 miles on S-B-IV.
