IGNITION DISTRIBUTOR ROTOR FINGER.

In our EFC3/AD30.1.30 we recommended, from the results of observations, the radiusing of the bottom edges of the distributor rotor finger. Having run rotor fingers thus radiused in our ignition tests we now recommend, from the results of further observations, that this radiusing be also extended to the top edges as we have noticed a tendency for the bakelite material to be affected near the middle of the rotor finger where the potential gradient between the finger and conical rotor support is greatest. In fact in one case, a through breakdown has resulted. The conditions in our tests of course are more severe than those obtaining on the chassis, nevertheless we are very definitely of the opinion that the complete radiusing of the rotor finger, particularly in its central region, is worth while.
