HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} (handwritten and crossed out) X4247 (handwritten) To Rg.{Mr Rowledge} From CJ. c. to R.{Sir Henry Royce} Wer. HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} (crossed out) Dec. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} (crossed out) 20 HP. CJ2/E6/5/24 At a conference held at Conduit Street this morning, you pointed out that, to manufacture a three speed gear box having right hand change and then later on to manufacture a four speed gear box with right hand change for the 20 Hp chassis, would be a very expensive matter and it was decided that, as the profits on the Goshawk would not allow of such luxuries, we should perforce have to await the production of a four speed gear box with right hand change. It should be borne in mind therefore that, when the press of brakes is overpassed, the designs in connection with this matter are urgent more urgent for instance than the designs for MAC.{Mr Macintosh}5. You mentioned that the cost of the four speed gear box is likely to be considerably more than the cost of the three speed gear box. Will you kindly have this matter gone into and let us know what is going to be the difference in cost. CJ. | ||
