Re Lagging of Intermediate Silencer
Standardisation Sheet X.223 - Bentley.

With reference to attached memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wym{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}16/KW16.1.35, on above subject, we have discussed same with Mr.Scott who agrees that it is practically impossible, in the first place moving the front end of the silencer and pipe in .250 is not sufficient, as it is already necessary to remove some of the bottom flange of side frame.

If the front end is moved in, it is also necessary to move the rear end, which brings the silencer suspension bracket into the servo gear.

Would suggest the easiest way of obtaining the desired clearance, is to rotate the silencer slightly round the pipe, this would necessitate removing a small amount from the rear corner of the gear box underpan only.
