B.8.GA. PARIS TRIALS CAR.

In reply to your memo, Sr/VA.3/EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}7.6.37 we have put in hand a set of main bearings in A.C.2. similar to the ones that ran successfully in 3.B.lV. over 17,000 miles, test in France. We expect them to be ready in approximately one week's time and are doing all we can to urge them.

These will be suitable for reaming to .010" undersize crank.

Regarding your crank journals these should be made into a good condition in order that the full value out of the test with new bearings is obtained.

Regarding your query as to when we consider a crankshaft should be reground, we refer you to the memo Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}17/MJ.2.11.36. in which we gave particulars on this subject.

For your information we also attach a memo by By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} on the same subject.
