TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} C.c to BJ. WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} [crossed out] ORIGINAL [stamp] re. ROAD CLEARANCE. X615 X5460 X8460 [crossed out] This must not be reduced over the present 20HP. and 7-EX. Experience teaches us that these are only wrong at the rear of the cars. The bottom of the petrol tank and the snout must be kept clear of the road when the car is on the bump. This was the fault experienced in France during my winter stay, the swan neck pipe being frequently caught through the roads being bumpy, the wheel tracks sunk, and the middle of the road having an excessof camber.
