1115, 458 & 1022. (SP{Mr Spinney}) Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/JH.30.10.39. re 2.1 Litre Rippletto. Attached herewith we give a preliminary specification of the above car and also a list of the prophesised weight savings over the B.V. both of which are based on the conference held last Friday evening. From an appendix attached, it will be seen from calculations making reasonable assumptions, if the 2.1 litre engine were to be put into the Ripplet frame unaltered in length at the front end. The natural frequency in bending of the front arms would be that of the present B.V. if the gauge of the frame were reduced at S.W.G.16 (.064") We have seen a way of reducing the distance, front wheels and dash from the 27.000 ins. of Ripplet to 20.500" for Rippletto without a complete tear up of the car and since this is so easy we are going ahead with the frame design. In SWG.16 the frame makers might use wooden swaging blocks for the parts which differ from the B.V. The bought out axle is in hand, and Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Grys. has found us some B.V. light wheels with 4.000 Rims. | ||
