c. C.O. x44-9. Expl. Dept. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /RH. {R. Hollingworth} 1/MJ. May 8th.1930. Thos. Firth & Sons,Ltd., Norfolk Works, SHEFFIELD. Dear Sirs, PHANTOM 11 STIFFER TYPE ROAD SPRINGS. With reference to the complete set of front and rear stiffer type road springs which you are manufacturing for us, similar to those previously supplied for chassis 23-EX. We would like to emphasise the necessity of obtaining good bedding at the tips of the leaves in order to prevent oil running out at this point, and so starving the lower part of the spring. On the set we are at present running we notice that this defect applies particularly to the leaf below the main plate on the rear springs, and we would like you to give the matter your attention. Yours faithfully, For Rolls-Royce Ltd. | ||
