Further to our recent correspondence we have now completed our test on the above battery, returned under complaint, and our laboratory report is as follows:- "On receipt it was found that the two end cells were short "of electrolyte, the remaining cells being slightly low. "After topping up to normal level with water the battery was "charged for 12 hours at 5 amperes, and constant voltage "readings were then obtained. The specific gravities " being 1270 approximately in the four middle cells, and "1150 approximately in the two end cells. After adjusting "to 1280 specific gravity throughout a discharge was taken "at 4.9 amperes (10 hour rate), and 11½ hours was obtained "down to 10.8 volts over-all." You will see from the above that the battery is giving a capacity considerably in excess of its normal 10 hour rate, and we can only suggest that acid has been lost from the two end cells and replaced with distilled water. contd. | ||
