43989 To EY. from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/TMW. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/TMW1/LG17.3.25. X1282 43989 KRASNAGNARSKY SPIRIT. The 25 galls. of the above spirit referred to in BY/HM{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}3/W13.3.25. were duly received by this Dept. Consumption and H.P. curves were taken on an Eagle Vlll. engine to compare with B.P. Aviation Spirit - tables are attached. A sample was submitted to the Laboratory for analysis a report of which is attached. It will be noted that the spirit is remarkably light, the specific gravity being 0.690 as compared to the 0.752 of the B.P. and 0.740 of Shell Aviation BED TESTS. An increase of roughly 4 H.P. is shown using the above spirit, but the pts.per HP.hr. do not work out so well. In fact we could not guarantee to produce the A.I.D. limit figure of .56 at 1800 r.p.m., while at low speeds it is even worse. It would be found however that the lbs.per HP.hr. would work out almost the same. Beyond this feature, we could not find anything to complain about, the quantity available being too small to note the effect a long continuous run might have. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/TMW. | ||
