To HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to C.J. ORIGINAL. RE SLINGING "GOSHAWK II" UNIT. X3535 With reference to slinging the "Goshawk II" unit, and removing it from the chassis frame, Mr. Royce would like you to find out the position of the centre of gravity of the unit. It would be ideal if the slings could be attached a little above the centre of gravity for ease of handling. Failing this, it will be necessary to attach the slings at three points, and Mr. Royce would like to know if the engine could be tilted longways by slinging it from the back tubes with a small guy rope attached to the front elsewhere, say, the front bracket. It is necessary to lift the nose of the engine above the front cross member without running the cylinder head into the dashboard. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} RECEIVED FC NOV 21 1921 | ||
