X.4088 - MIDGLEY CUTOUT AND CONTROLLER. X.4008

As referred to in EFC1/T24.6.26, please find attached copy of my assistant's report AC.74 dealing with the description of and observations taken upon the duplex unit of the Midgley cutout and controller, together with a photostat copy of diagram in connection with this. We think that sufficient explanation is contained in the report.

We have a standard R.R. cutout fitted with a back contact, i.e. contact which makes when armature is furthest from core, and we are looking into the question of arranging this as an electro-magnetic switch unit for inserting a resistance in the dynamo field circuit. We think we can with this arrange a satisfactory system of this kind to work on a chassis.

The curves referred to in the last paragraph of the attached report are those which have already been issued under cover of our EFC1/T24.6.26.
