Antidazzle foglamps with facetted glass beads observed at the British Industries Fair.

Foglamps at the British Industries Fair. During a visit to the British Industries Fair on February 23rd. I noticed an antidazzle lamp which has a front glass covered with hundreds of small diamond shaped facetted glass beads. The result is to diffuse the light to such an extent that if the hand is held in front of the lamp it casts no shadow. It is claimed that this effect is extremely valuable in rendering the lamp anti-dazzle and also in penetrating fog. The headlamps exhibited provide a parallel beam through a small portion of the front glass which is left clear, and certainly they have a very small dazzle zone outside this beam, but whether the light is too diffused for motor car work or not seems a point of doubt. The fog lamps have a conical front glass and throw light back behind the plane of the lamp. They are claimed to illuminate signposts, etc. to an extent much superior to that provided by a normal fixed foglamp, and also to give a much better light for driving in fog.
