Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. C. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.3/AD2.9.32. C.A.V. DYNAMO VOLTAGE REGULATOR We have had on test for some time, one or two of the above units one of which we have been running in conjunction with a 40/50 dynamo suitably modified as a plain shunt machine. We have now arrived at the point where we wish to recommend the adoption of such a regulator as standard on the 40/50 chassis. Before making our recommendations we should be glad if you will approach the C.A.V. Co. Acton with a view to ascertaining definitely if they would be willing to sell us the C.A.V. regulator as a separate unit in order that we can fit same to our own dynamo. We should also like to know their price for supplying this unit to us in small quantities. The type of regulator we have been using is their standard B.2 which they use in conjunction with their type D.E.R.S. dynamo. We have previously been in correspondence with their Mr. Glaser with regard to the performance of these regulators and also Mr.Thacker of the Lucas Co. There is no question at all of us buying their dynamo complete with regulator as we have a very satisfactory machine ourselves and it is only intended to use their voltage controller as a means of suitably proportioning the output from this machine to the demand of the battery.
