X.4072. The cut-out flange was arranged to be a simple drop forging of a rather different form, requiring the minimum machining, butting the exhaust pipe and welded all round the outside , If the cutout box itsebf could be altered, this too might be in sheet steel pressing instead of forging, but time does not permit of this.
