To R.M.

We have received your letter RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IHH.H/VH. 20-1-39. for which we thank you.

On dismantling & examining the N.S steering arm it was found very little out, rather twisted than bent, also the damaged wheel was slightly more dished than the others. We have done nothing to the steering arm but have fitted another wheel, the ball joint is now only just rubbing on corners but not wearing the tyre.
We have fitted the new Avon tyres just received & note your requirements, we take it that of course at least two of the tyres will be subjected to deliberate misuse.

We enclose an oil sample on blotting paper of 6279 miles since the element was fitted, this looked bad enough to warrant a new one.

RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/SD Rose
F Gardiner.

6279. miles.
