86122 Expl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.2/MJ. 5th. March, 1936. C.R.N. Minchin Esq., Messrs. Peto & Radford Ltd., 50, Grosvenor Gardens, LONDON.S.W.1. Dear Mr. Minchin, We do not feel aprehensive regarding the capacity of the light weight battery on the Bentley, because it is our business to take care of all the possible loads on the system when the engine is running by designing the dynamo capable of meeting this load, i.e. the battery should only float on the system. On all our new cars we are endeavouring to try and meet this condition, looking upon the battery merely as a stand-by and a convenient method of holding the voltage within limits. Regarding Mr. Breeden's car, I am personally looking into the matter with our Repair Dept., giving them the gentle hint that in cases of this kind Peto & Radford should be consulted and not Exide. Yours faithfully, For Rolls-Royce Ltd. | ||
